Starting May 2025, Visa has launched a new “Tap to Add Card” feature—now available to Queensland Country Bank Members free of charge.
This convenient feature allows you to quickly add your Queensland Country Bank Visa card to a digital wallet (such as Apple Pay or Google Wallet) by simply tapping your physical card on an NFC-enabled smartphone.
How does it work?
Adding your Queensland Country Bank Visa card using this feature is quick and easy:
- Open your digital wallet app (e.g. Apple Wallet, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay).
- Select “Add to Wallet” (or similar) and choose the appropriate card type.
- Tap your Queensland Country Bank Visa card against the back of your NFC-enabled mobile device.
Note: This feature is an additional option and does not replace existing methods of adding your card to a digital wallet.
How to Check if Your Phone Supports NFC
To use this feature, your phone must support NFC (Near Field Communication). Here’s how to check:
- Android users:
Go to Settings > Connected devices or Connections, then look for NFC. If it appears, your phone supports it — just make sure it’s turned on. You can also search for “NFC” in your settings. - iPhone users:
All iPhones from iPhone 6 and newer have NFC built in. On iPhone XS and later, NFC works automatically in the background—no need to enable anything.
Tip: If you’ve used your phone for contactless payments before, it is NFC-enabled.
Why Use It?
This new feature makes adding your card faster and easier by eliminating the need to manually enter card details or scan them with your phone’s camera.
Is it secure?
Absolutely. Your data is encrypted and tokenised, just like with traditional wallet provisioning. Plus, all Visa cards added using this method require two-factor verification for added security.
