At Queensland Country, each year we invest in sponsorships both at state wide level and in a smaller local scale. We are proud to support both the big and the small. Below is just a snapshot of the activities we are involved in throughout our Queensland communities
Queensland Country is proud to be the Official Banking Partner of the Cairns Taipans. The Taipans are an NBL Team, and the only national sports team located in Cairns currently playing its 23rd season this year. The Australian NBL recently expanded to 10 teams and secured its biggest broadcast deal in competition history: a $20million ESPN agreement with the Foxtel Group and News Corp Australia. Taipan’s matches are streamed live on Kayo with Channel 10 Peach hosting two live NBL games per week from 1-5pm on Sunday. The Taipans are also the only club that boast an Indigenous Program, with TIP (Taipans Indigenous Program) regularly servicing remote areas of Queensland and using basketball as a vehicle to promote healthy lifestyles and education.
Queensland Country has been a long term major sponsor of the Cowboys, and was excited to extend the commitment to the 2015 NRL Premiers by becoming the official banking partner of the club in 2016.
This partnership has been celebrated with a series of exciting initiatives:
A planned Queensland Country traineeship for a Cowboys Under-20s player
Partnering with the Cowboys’ Learn Earn Legend! program, which provides education support to Indigenous students in Years 11 and 12 and having a trainee from the program at Queensland Country.
Crackles attends every Home Game and gives one lucky attendee the chance to win with our ‘Bring Home the Bacon’ competition
The Cowboys appeared in our flagship product campaign for SmartBudget – watch below
Queensland Country and the Cowboys are both proud of their strong community focus throughout Queensland, especially in regional areas.

Mackay Cutters is a rugby league club that began in 1918 with an ad in the paper. The club supports their local community by advertising local organisations’ causes at home games.
Queensland Country is a proud supporter of this club, sponsoring the Cutters Academy, Mackay Cutters Little League and Cutters Care – in school program. The Club does an excellent job of fostering junior development and involvement in sport.
The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo is the largest rodeo in the Southern Hemisphere and was founded in 1959 with a vision to put the new, remote town of Mount Isa on the map. Today Mount Isa is proudly the “Rodeo Capital of Australia”.
To date the ‘Isa Rodeo’, as it affectionately known, has directly given in excess of $4.6 million to charity in Mount Isa. On top of that, the rodeo provides fundraising for local schools, clubs, community services and non-profit organisations.
Queensland Country is a Local Community Partner of the Rodeo and looks forward to rodeo time every year when we transform our branch in to scene from the outback in support of the event.
