Our staff have raised over $21,000 in funds for four Queensland charities, as part of our annual Workplace Giving Program.

The initiative, which is in its third year at Queensland Country Bank, saw over 85% of staff across their Queensland branches donate one dollar per fortnight to the Workplace Giving Program, which was then distributed to the chosen charities.

Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Country Bank, Aaron Newman, says staff voted for their preferred charities and raised a total of $10,894 in contributions, which has since been matched by the organisation.

“As a member-owned organisation, we have always supported local communities through donations and sponsorships, and our Workplace Giving Program is no exception,” says Mr Newman.

“The generosity of our staff and the contributed effort of Queensland Country Bank has enabled us to raise over $21,000 for four local charities close to our heart."

“Giving back to the communities that always support us is something our organisation is very passionate about, and our Workplace Giving Program enables us to do just that.”

The total sum will be split between Angel Paws Townsville, The Royal Flying Doctors, Cancer Council Australia and The Black Dog Institute, with each charity receiving over $5,000.

Mr Newman says the affordable, individual contribution of one dollar per fortnight collectively results in a significant donation and ensures the chosen charities can continue their important work in the communities we service.

“The contribution of one dollar a fortnight may seem minimal, but it can make a huge difference to the charities we are assisting,” says Mr Newman.

“With 28 branches throughout the state, it doesn’t take long to add up, and we take great pride in being able to make meaningful donations at a time where many charities are doing it tough.”

With the new financial year now upon us, Mr Newman says there has never been a better time for organisations to consider implementing a Workplace Giving Program.

“A Workplace Giving Program provides numerous benefits, not just for the chosen charities, but also for the organisation, as it enables staff to make a meaningful contribution, which in turn, strengthens the culture within the organisation.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how these funds will support Angel Paws Townsville, The Royal Flying Doctors Service, Cancer Council Australia and The Black Dog Institute with their great work in our communities.”
