Providing Traineeship Opportunities at Queensland Country!

At Queensland Country Bank we value the development of our people so we can better serve our Members and the communities we live in. Offering Indigenous Traineeships is one of the many ways we do this as it allows the trainee to work and study simultaneously so the learning experience becomes so much more meaningful because they can put the theory into practice on the job.

We would like to introduce our newest trainees, Telita and Henri, who joined Queensland Country in March this year and have commenced a Certificate III in Business with TAFE QLD North.

Telita is a proud Torres Strait Islander woman whose mob is from the Eastern region of the beautiful Murray Island. Henri was born in PNG with an indigenous father, moving to Mackay when he was 6 years old and playing rugby league for the Mackay Cutters.

They are both doing such an amazing job and the feedback from both their branches and local Members within the communities about their service and progression in their roles has been outstanding.

Why did you choose this Traineeship opportunity with Queensland Country?

Henri: “I play rugby league for the Mackay Cutters and our core values of local community involvement and inclusivity combined with our community first mentality coincide with Queensland Country’s values. These appealed to me and was something I wanted to be a part of.”

Telita: “I chose Queensland Country Bank for my traineeship because the values are very similar to mine; I always put my siblings first before anyone, I bring my best self to be an indigenous female role within my community; As I’m always caring and thoughtful within my local community, I wanted to discover a new professional career in the banking industry as I didn’t have experience.”

One of the most significant benefits of having a trainee is that we can help shape their learning journey in line with our values and practices and help them become the best version of themselves. Traineeships open doors. We can make a real difference by increasing their skills and assisting trainees to gain a Nationally Accredited qualification. And we can be proud that we are helping provide opportunities and develop people in our local communities.
