A Legacy of People, Purpose, and Progress
Over the past five and a half decades, Queensland Country Bank has evolved significantly, from opening in Mount Isa to a statewide member-owned bank. Our roots in regional Queensland shape who we are – a bank built on community, connection, genuine care and a deep understanding of the needs of everyday Queenslanders. As we expanded our branch network and invested in new opportunities across South East Queensland, we remained committed to the regional towns that have been a part of our story from the very beginning. Through every stage of growth, our purpose has stayed the same: to help Queenslanders live better lives through better financial wellbeing.
The People Who Bring Our Purpose to Life
Behind every milestone are the people who bring Queensland Country Bank to life. Our team Members past and present, have shaped our culture, carried our purpose forward with pride, and consistently put people first. Their genuine care for our Members, their support for one another, and their commitment to our communities reflect the very best of who we are.
We are proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work for the past three years – a testament to the positive, supportive culture our people create every day. Across our network many team Members have also celebrated significant long-tenure milestones, demonstrating the loyalty, passion and dedication that continues to drive our success. By bringing their best to every task and interaction, our people truly embody the values that define Queensland Country Bank.
Supporting Queensland Communities
Community has always been at the heart of who we are. For 55 years, we’ve invested in local initiatives, supported grassroots organisations, and partnered with groups that make a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders. Since 2005, more than $3 million has been distributed throughout our programs, helping fund projects that strengthens and supports regional communities across the state.
Our Commitment goes beyond financial support. Through our volunteering program, team Members contribute their time and skills to local causes, reinforcing the genuine care that defines Queensland Country Bank. We’re also proud to support Iconic Queensland events and partnerships including the Mount Isa Rodeo, Queensland Country Bank Stadium and the Brisbane Heat, along with many local sponsorships that bring the community together.
As a member-owned organisation, our success is shared, and so is our responsibility to give back. Our long-standing community partnerships reflect our belief that strong communities create strong futures.
Highlights from the Past 5 Years
The years following our 50th milestone have marked a period of significant growth and transformation for Queensland Country Bank. We expanded our product and service offering to support small and medium businesses, joined the United Nations Global Compact, and refreshed our brand following the sale of our Health Fund business. Our community partnerships grew with our Principal Partnership of the Brisbane Heat, and we strengthened our presence in Brisbane with the purchase of a multistorey office building at 247 Adelaide Street. We extended naming rights for Queensland Country Bank Stadium until 2029, launched our Farm Management Deposit Account to support agribusiness, opened our Maroochydore branch to further expand in SEQ, and reached a major milestone with assets surpassing $4 billion. Together, these achievements capture the momentum that has shaped our recent progress.
Championing Financial Wellbeing
Helping Queenslanders achieve better financial wellbeing has been a constant thread throughout our history. From everyday banking to home ownership, and financial education to personalised support, we’ve always believed that financial wellbeing is the foundation for a better life.
Many of our Members have been with us for decades – a sentiment reflected in countless Product Review comments that highlight the long-standing trust, personalised service and a genuine care. One Member D. Cannon, shared:
We were a young family living in Mount Isa when the Credit Union had its beginning. The bank helped us establish a home and guided us into the Bill Paying Scheme, which we continue to use in our senior years. The staff treat us as if we were a Member of their own family, because they take the time to explain things in simple terms. We always leave the branch with a smile on our faces knowing we can trust their advice.
