What is Confirmation of Payee?
The Confirmation of Payee service (CoP) is an initiative of the Australian Payments Plus that is designed to help prevent scams and mistaken payments, by allowing payers to verify the name on a recipient’s account before making a payment.

How does CoP work?
The CoP service checks the account name, BSB and account number a payer has entered against the details held by the recipient’s bank and lets the payer know whether it’s a match, before they make the payment.

When will CoP be available?
Queensland Country will introduce CoP at a later date and accordingly the CoP service is not currently available to our Members when making payments from their Queensland Country accounts.

However, from 1 May 2025, customers of other financial institutions may have CoP functionality available when making payments.

What details will be visible to people making payments to my account?
Where payments from other financial institutions with CoP functionality are made to your account with Queensland Country Bank, we will be required (through our service provider Cuscal) to receive and respond to a request made through the CoP service by confirming whether the account name, BSB and account number a payer has entered matches your account details with us. This means your personal information, namely your account details (e.g. your account name, BSB and account number) may be displayed to customers of other financial institutions so they can check whether the account name they enter matches your account details before making a payment to you. If any of these details are incorrect, your name will not be shown to protect your privacy.

If your account is a joint account, only the names entered by the payer will be shown, along with an indication that there are additional account holders ("and others"). Other associated names will not be displayed.

For business or government organisation accounts receiving a payment, the account name will be visible to the payer, regardless of the match outcome.

Updates to our Privacy Policy
In order to reflect the use and disclosure of your personal information under confirmation of payee we have updated our Privacy and Credit Reporting Policy and Privacy and Credit Reporting Notification. The terms and conditions governing confirmation of payee are included in our Accounts and Access Facilities Conditions of Use (AaFCoU) which provides that as soon as you open an account or use an access facility you become bound by the (AaFCoU). This includes your consent to the use, disclosure and storage of your personal information by us and
our service provider, Cuscal, for purposes related to the provision of the services provided in our AaFCoU, including CoP. You may obtain a copy of these documents in branch; on our website (include links to documents); or contacting us on 1800 075 078.

Can I choose not to have my name displayed to others through CoP?
Eligible members can request to opt out of the Confirmation of Payee service. This means your account name and match outcome will not be shown to payers, which could affect the likelihood of the payer proceeding with the payment.

Please contact us on 1800 075 078 to discuss whether you can request to be opt-ed out of CoP services.

If your account is eligible and you have opted out, your account name and match outcome will not be shown to payers. However, this opt-out does not apply to taxpayer-funded payments from government agencies, such as welfare benefits or emergency assistance payments. Please note that opting out might affect the likelihood of a payer proceeding with a payment to you.
