Our Maroochydore branch have dived straight into community spirit, proudly partnering with the iconic Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club to support its much-loved Nippers program.

The Branch has supplied six new surfboards and a marquee to help young lifesavers build water skills, confidence, and ocean safety knowledge.

Helen Butler, General Manager of the Club said the support from Queensland Country Bank allowed their youngest surf lifesavers to have access to the equipment they need to learn, grow, and thrive on the beach.

“With the largest number of Nippers learning surf skills in Queensland, our Club’s equipment needs are significant, and we are committed to ensuring that no child ever misses out. Thanks to community-minded partners like Queensland Country Bank, we can continue delivering a safe, supportive, and fun environment for every Nipper, supported by our amazing team of volunteers. Support like this means the world to us and helps shape the next generation of confident, capable surf lifesavers,” she said.

“Supporting the Alexandra Headland Nippers is exactly the kind of community partnership we’re proud to stand behind,” Queensland Country Bank CEO Aaron Newman said.

“Local clubs like Alex Surf Club play such an important role in helping young Queenslanders build confidence, resilience, and vital life skills. It’s a privilege to play a small part in backing the volunteers, families, and future lifesavers who make this community so special.”

This community connection comes as the Maroochydore branch continues to settle into its new home after opening earlier this year. It also builds on our wider commitment to supporting local Queenslanders through initiatives like our Good for Good Community Grants program.

The Maroochy River Rowing Club (MRRC) is a recent recipient of a community grant, which will help fund new high-performance rowing boats to support the club’s youth athletes.

The club’s growing membership and higher-performing athletes need new, fit-for-purpose boats to ensure everyone has equal access to quality equipment. The new boats will support a full lifecycle of use at the club. Initially serving high-performance squads and over time will rotate to intermediate squads and eventually to beginner rowers.
