Community grants continue to be a game-changer for organisations across Queensland, helping people connect, thrive, and make a difference. The Queensland Country Bank Good for Good Community Grants are dedicated to supporting organisations that strengthen the fabric of Queensland communities.
The Bramble Bay Women’s Shed received a $9,800 grant from Queensland Country Bank. The improvements made to the shed now allow the group to keep their doors open during the sweltering months, expand their activities, and provide even more opportunities for connection.
When discussing the updates made possible by the grant, Bramble Bay Women’s Shed President, Robyn Bonner, said the $9,800 grant was used to install insulation, expand the workspace and buy three new machines.
Extra storage space, extra workspace, cooling the whole place down with insulation - everything is just fantastic, because last year, for example, we had to close for best part of two months because it was just too hot to work in the shed, which had a pretty big impact on our members.
It's a place that we can come together with like-minded people, have a chat, get people who might be isolated or lonely to come along, and they've got that outlet twice a week to talk to people and to see what things are happening and to create a project and finish a project, and have that pride in what they've done and achieved.
It stops that loneliness, if they feel like their family isn't supportive or here for them.
Beyond Tools and Workspace
The upgrades don’t just improve the physical space; they foster personal connection and a sense of belonging. The Women’s Shed provides so much more than machines and materials. It’s a haven where women can meet like-minded people, take on exciting projects, and rediscover personal pride in creative achievements.
Queensland Country Bank strongly believes in the value of supporting community-driven organisations, and the Bramble Bay Women’s Shed exemplifies the spirit of our Good for Good Community Grant initiative.
Grant Stoodley, Local Lending Specialist, expressed his pride in being able to support such an impactful group.
“It gives us a real sense of purpose to be able to assist organisations like this that give back so much to the community, and to be able to assist them with what they do well,” Mr Stoodley said.
Mr Stoodley highlighted that fostering partnerships with groups like the Bramble Bay Women’s Shed aligns with Queensland Country Bank’s commitment to creating lasting impacts where it operates, particularly through grants designed to uplift people and nurture communities.
“Being a Member owned bank, we’re all about the community – it’s being able to give back to the people who support others and support the communities that we operate in.”
With the improvements from the grant, the Women’s Shed is now better equipped to continue making a positive contribution to the lives of local women.
Stories like the Bramble Bay Women’s Shed are what the Queensland Country Bank Good for Good Community Grants are all about. From enabling organisations to provide critical services to creating spaces where people thrive, the program delivers tangible change.
