Staff from Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia were surprised with a cheque for $2,760 during Silly Sock Day when they become the first recipients of Queensland Country’s Staff Giving Program.

Chief Executive Officer Aaron Newman said the Staff Giving Program was a new initiative driven by staff to make a quarterly donation to a charity that they have voted for.

“Our staff voluntarily donate $1 from each pay, and this works out to be a sizable donation with our staff numbers across the State,” said Mr Newman.

“We’re kicking off the giving with our Official Charity Partner, Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia.  Today we’re wearing their bright striped socks to help raise awareness and funds, so it was the ideal opportunity to surprise them with a donation from our Staff Giving Program as well.”

Community Relations and Communications Manager Marnie Bricknell from Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia accepted the cheque from Queensland Country’s Head of Human Resources, Rebecca Campbell.

Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia supports sick kids and their families from across North Australia, offering accommodation in a hospital-adjacent House, a Family Room at Townsville Hospital, Family Retreat in Palm Cove and a Learning Program.
