Can I order replacement cheque books?

As cheque usage has declined in Australia, the Australian Government developed a plan to modernise the payments platform to prioritise efficient and convenient digital payment methods. Many banks and member-owned banks across Australia have already begun phasing out cheques to support this payment transition.

With fewer Members using cheques, demand for cheque services has significantly reduced, while the costs of maintaining cheque infrastructure remain high. As a result, we are ceasing cheque services in 2027 and supporting Members to transition to secure, convenient digital payment alternatives.

We understand that many of our Members have relied on this service for decades. To make this transition as seamless as possible, we will keep our cheque using members updated via written communications, as well as this webpage to ensure you have all the information you need to do your banking without cheques. Our friendly Branch and Contact Centre staff are here to provide support and help you get set up with any services you may need.

You are encouraged to return any unused cheques from your cheque book to either your local branch or by return mail to GPO Box 2219, Brisbane QLD 4001.

If returning by mail, please ensure each cheque is voided by writing the word "VOID" across the face. We will then arrange to have the returned cheques securely destroyed.

Any cheque presented after this date will be dishonoured. From 24 May 2027 onwards external cheques will only be able to be deposited at Australia Post using Bank@Post.
