From 01 September 2026, Queensland Country Bank will be making changes to the way automatic transfers that help prevent dishonours operate on eligible accounts. The change will affect Queensland Country credit products, including credit cards and lines of credit, as well as Bonus Saver accounts.

What's changing?

Currently, where a payment, direct debit, cheque or other eligible transaction is presented to an account without sufficient available funds, Queensland Country may automatically transfer funds from another eligible account held in the same name to help prevent the transaction from being dishonoured. This process is sometimes referred to as the automated sweep feature.

From 01 September 2026, credit products, including credit cards and lines of credit, and Bonus Saver accounts will no longer be eligible source accounts for these automatic transfers.

This means funds will no longer be automatically transferred from these accounts to cover transactions where there are insufficient available funds in another account.

What does this mean for you?

This change does not affect your ability to continue using your credit card, line of credit or Bonus Saver account in the normal way. Your accounts will remain open and continue to operate in accordance with their existing terms and conditions.

However, if a payment is presented to an account with insufficient available funds, and there are no other eligible deposit accounts available to support an automatic transfer, the transaction may be declined or dishonoured. In some circumstances, Queensland Country may honour the transaction and overdraw the account, which may result in overdraft interest and/or overdrawn account fees applying.

What should you do?

We encourage Members to review any regular payments, direct debits and scheduled transactions to ensure sufficient available funds are held in the account from which those payments are made.

More information

The changes will be reflected in the Account & Access Facility Conditions of UseIn particular, a new clause 3.29 will be inserted to describe the operation of automatic transfers that help prevent dishonours, including the account types eligible to participate.
