Mount Isa's Parkside United Junior Football Club is set for an exciting season thanks to funding from Queensland Country Bank's Good for Good Community Grants program, which has enabled the club to upgrade essential training equipment and keep young players kicking!
Our 2025-26 round of grants supported 16 projects across Queensland, from sport and education to community wellbeing and environmental initiatives, reinforcing our commitment to putting people first. Each project was selected for its ability to deliver practical, lasting benefits and strengthen local communities where it's needed most.
Joshua Littlemore, Club President, said the grant had been fully utilised, providing the club with much-needed equipment for players, coaches, and members.
"The project helped us upgrade a very large portion of our training equipment that had become outdated, lost, worn out, and in some cases unsafe to use. We've replaced every soccer ball, training markers of varying shapes and sizes, soccer ball training bags, soccer nets, soccer target nets, and for the younger ages, new soccer goals. This ensures our players can train safely and confidently," he said.
"This has been such a vital project for our club. We can't thank Queensland Country Bank enough for their help. It sets us on the right path to guiding juniors in North West Queensland to learn and love our great game for another 50 years to come."
Queensland Country Bank Local Manager, Jude Enriquez, reiterated that supporting grassroots sport is a core part of Queensland Country Bank’s community commitment.
"I played junior team sports growing up and know how important these opportunities are for children and young people. In a small community like Mount Isa, having access to safe, modern equipment and facilities makes a huge difference, not just for the sport, but for building confidence, teamwork, and community spirit. Applications for the 2026-27 round of Good for Good Community Grants are open from 1 July to 16 August 2026, with community groups, charities, sporting clubs and not-for-profit organisations across Queensland encouraged to apply for funding to help bring important local projects to life.
