Queensland Country Bank has been recognised as a winner in the 2023 Mozo Experts Choice Award for Bank Accounts and Savings in the Pensioner Account category.

Mozo’s research team analysed pensioner accounts that offer fee-free day-to-day banking from 53 different providers in Australia, and Queensland Country Bank’s Pension Plus Account achieved a coveted spot in the top ten per cent.

“We understand how important it is for pensioners to have a savings account that is uncomplicated and works well for their day-to-day needs. Queensland Country Bank does all of this, while also offering a competitive interest rate,” said Mozo Expert Judge Peter Marshall.

“Accounts that qualified were assessed based on their effective interest rate at two balances, and the weighted return of these two tiers was used to determine the award winners.”

The Mozo Experts Choice Awards are judged by senior and experienced experts and focus on customer value in the judging process. Queensland Country Bank Chief Executive Officer Aaron Newman said they were pleased to have received independent recognition because as a member-owned bank, there is a focus on providing genuinely beneficial products and services to Members.

“To be recognised in the Pensioner Account category confirms we are achieving our goal of offering practical, value for money banking services,” said Mr Newman.

“As a member-owned bank that puts people ahead of profits, we’re particularly proud to be recognised for offering a quality, value for money bank account for pensioners to assist them with managing their savings to achieve their financial goals.”

Mr Newman said that while the Pension Plus account can easily be managed through internet banking, many pensioners appreciated the personalised support that a member-owned bank can offer.

“Unlike many of the major banks, Queensland Country Bank is committed to keeping branches open in regional Queensland so our Members can access face-to-face banking services and the opportunity to discuss their financial goals,” he said.

“For any phone banking enquiries, our staff are able to offer prompt, friendly service from our contact centres located in Cairns, Townsville and Brisbane.

“It’s all part of the difference a member-owned bank can offer."
