Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital to Queensland’s economy, regional prosperity and job creation, and a strong relationship with their business banker can be critical in supporting their lending needs and achieving their financial goals to ensure their success.

As part of our commitment to expand our business banking services to regional Queenslanders, Queensland Country Bank has appointed Gavin Walker to the role of Business Banking Manager in Mackay and Kevin Waring as the Small Business Specialist in Cairns.

Gavin has 30+ years’ experience in the finance industry, most of which has been spent in business banking, servicing regional Queenslanders across industries including mining support, accommodation, childcare, engineering, retail, commercial and property investment. Gavin is heavily involved in his local community as a junior and seniors hockey coach, a sport which his family have excelled at representing Queensland in their respective age groups.

Kevin is a career banker of almost 40 years in Far North Queensland, and has spent the majority of his time in business banking relationship management roles with extensive knowledge across specialised industries including accommodation, real estate and Self-Managed Superannuation Funds, as well as the many small businesses throughout regional Queensland. Outside of work, Kevin is an active member of the Army Reserve.

Gavin and Kevin join Brad Hodder (Head of Business Banking), Peter Walker (Business Banking Manager Townsville) and Dianne Reitsma (Business Banking Analyst) to offer personalised service to businesses throughout Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland and out west to Mount Isa.

It’s all part of our commitment as a member-owned bank to put people before profits and continue to develop our products and services to support our Members to reach their personal and business financial goals.
