Over $21,000 to be split between four Queensland charities

30 June 2022 marked the end of our Workplace Giving Program for 2021/2022 so we were excited to announce that our staff raised $10,894 which Queensland Country then matched bringing the total to $21,788. How amazing is that?!

The total sum was split between the 4 staff chosen charities which were Angel Paws Townsville, The Royal Flying Doctors Service, Cancer Council Australia and The Black Dog Institute, with each charity receiving over $5,000.

This initiative, which is in its third year at Queensland Country Bank, saw 83% of staff across the organisation donate $1 per fortnight to the Workplace Giving Program. This affordable, individual contribution collectively results in a significant donation and ensures the chosen charities can continue their important work in the communities they service.

In Townsville Head Office on Friday 8 July 2022, Chief Executive Officer Aaron Newman, was able to present our donation to Angel Paws and in turn they surprised us with 5 puppies. As you can imagine, our staff were very excited.

General Manager of Angel Paws, Larissa Huxley, says they were thrilled to be chosen as one of the recipients and says the generous donation of over $5,000 will enable them to continue providing essential care for rejected animals.

“Angel Paws couldn’t operate without the support of the community, especially organisations like Queensland Country Bank that can contribute these large donations, which truly make a difference,” says Ms Huxley.

“We are currently in negotiations to purchase a shelter for the animals, so these funds will go towards its establishment which will help the organisation become more sustainable and ensure we can continue providing care for animals at risk.

“There are so many animals in the community that need our help, so funds like this are crucial to ensuring we can continue to keep up with demand.”

Over the coming weeks and months, we’re looking forward to sharing how the funds our staff raised have supported the other chosen charities of The Royal Flying Doctors Service, Cancer Council Australia and The Black Dog Institute with their great work in our communities.
