Where will the Rockhampton branch be located?

Who is Queensland Country?

Put simply, we are a bank that has a distinct purpose of helping all Queenslanders live better lives through better finance and health services.

We’ve been around since 1971, where our story began in true country spirit – in Mount Isa, Queensland. At the time we were known as the Isa Mine Employee’s Credit Union Limited. We grew out of the local Mount Isa community due to their need for basic banking and small lending options for employees of Mount Isa Mines (MIM) Limited and their related companies within the MIM umbrella. As we grew, so did our name, from North Queensland Credit Union to Queensland Country Credit Union before finally making the transition to a member-owned bank earlier this year.

Our history in Rockhampton started with a merger of the former ECU who had previously been based in the town. Since then we’ve maintained our strong ties in the community with regular visits from our Business Development Managers to ensure that our Members in the area continued to be serviced and kept a keen eye on the region in the hope of one day having a physical presence to support and grow our membership base. We’re very excited to be opening in November 2020.

Why is Queensland Country opening in Rockhampton?

Thanks to our merger with ECU in 2017, Queensland Country already has a strong membership base in Rockhampton. We’re keen to be able to offer greater support for these Members and grow our business in the area through a face to face Member experience and greater awareness of our products and services.

Our investment in a new branch for Rockhampton shows our strong commitment to providing quality banking services to the community. Rockhampton is an important location for Queensland Country Bank and we envisage the new branch will provide convenience for our many existing Members. We also anticipate that the convenience of the location will help us to continue growing in the area.

What is the Queensland Country Good for Good Grants?

Queensland Country Good for Good Community Grants are a monetary grant of between $5,000 and $30,000 that are awarded from a pool of $100,000 to eligible not-for-profit community organisations*.

In the spirit of paying it forward, our Queensland Country Good for Good Community Grant recipients partner with us to fundraise 10% of their approved grant amount on behalf of our Charity Partner, Ronald McDonald House North Australia or Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland Chapters.

That really is good for good.

Does Queensland Country have a mobile app?

I prefer to go through a broker for lending. Does Queensland Country work with Brokers?

We do. Queensland Country Bank sits on the lending panel with a number of broker agencies.  You won’t find us on the panel of some the major brokers though who require their panel of lenders to write a minimum lending amount each month.  We partner with Brokers whose values align with our own.  If you’d prefer to work with a broker, give us a call and we can connect your with one of our approved brokers in your area.

Does Queensland Country support [email protected]?

Absolutely. If you would prefer to use [email protected] services rather than visit our branch you are welcome to.  You will need to ensure you have a compatible VISA debit. If you’d like to check, just call 1800 075 078 or visit your new local branch to arrange this.

Does Queensland Country support real time payments?

If you're a Member with us you can benefit from payments being processed in real time between other participating financial institutions in Australia thanks to our participation in the National Payments Platform (NPP). NPP is a major industry initiative to develop new infrastructure for Australian payments. It provides you with faster, simpler and smarter payments through a fast and versatile payments system using a PayID rather than the traditional BSB and Account number used for regular transfers.

Can you lend under the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme?

Good news! Queensland Country Bank is an approved First Home Loan Deposit Scheme lender by the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) and pleased to be able to offer our eligible Members this option.

To support you in your first home buyer journey, the Australian Government launched the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme. This scheme is a government guarantee designed to help first home buyers on low and middle incomes to purchase their first home a little sooner.

As a member-owned lender it’s our purpose to provide you with better banking products, and being chosen as an approved lender is another reflection of how we can provide this benefit to first home buyers like you.

Will Queensland Country accept the HomeBuilder Grant as part of your deposit?

While many banks have chosen not to allow HomeBuilder to form part of your deposit, at Queensland Country Bank, we’re proud to be one of the lenders in the market that is answering this question with a resounding yes!

Applicants will still need to show genuine savings or accumulated equity in their existing property of 5%, however Queensland Country will take the HomeBuilder grant into consideration when calculating how much deposit a borrower will require when financing their new home or renovation.

This could result in significant savings for you if Lenders Mortgage Insurance is not required and could also mean we’re able to offer you a lower interest rate on the money you are borrowing.
